Flickroom 0.30 Beta is now LIVE!
by Flickroom Team on Dec.20, 2009, under Announcements

Ho ho ho! The next major update of Flickroom is just in time for Christmas! There are several big enhancements that will make your Flickroom experience better than ever before. Here is a low down on the new features in the 0.30 update [available for download via http://www.flickroom.org/]:
- Flickroom Localized in French, German, Japanese, Spanish, Italian, Polish - Flickroom is now available in these six additional languages apart from English. Language preferences will be automatically detected based on your system locale. You also have the option to change your language from the “Application” tab of the “Settings” panel. Flickroom team has received immense help from the community in bringing the application out in the different languages. A BIG Thank-you to:
- Giulio Iannotti, Andrea - Italian
- Yuya Saito - Japanese
- Cédric GODART - French
- Daniel Cano-Ott - Spanish
- Sasha Mann - German
- Sławek Pukło - Polish
Please note that this is just a pilot of the localized versions. There could be strings that are yet ‘un-translated’. Please feel free to send feedback about the strings at feedback@flickroom.org
- Grid view - Flickroom now provides you the option to view any photostream in “Grid” view. To use the same, click on the ‘Grid’ option in stream viewer.
- Signing of the application - Flickroom is now a signed and verified application. This means that the identity of its publisher (i.e. Flickroom Team) has been verified by a renowned certification authority - and so you can be assured that it is not a malicious application. Go ahead and install it, if that’s what you had been waiting for
- System tray - You now have the option of keeping the application running by minimizing it to system tray.
- Comments - All languages (double-byte characters included) are now supported in the comments. You can now comment in the language of your preference.
- Disable/Enable notifications pop-up - You now have the preference to disable notification-popups while running the application.
- Bug Fixes and UI - The bugs that caused the application to freeze on start-up or the browser window not opening for application authentication via Flickr have now been fixed. Several UI related enhancements have also been incorporated.
Hope you will continue to enjoy Flickroom!
Happy Flickrooming!

Here comes the much awaited update to provide you an even better Flickr experience! It is aimed at making Flickroom users even more powerful. Read on to find out all the new goodies in Version 0.28 Beta [available for download via http://www.flickroom.org/]:
- Upcoming Photography Events - Flickroom now provides you a way to find out upcoming photography events in your locality.
- You can search for all kinds of events like Photowalks, Trainings, Workshops, or any other event you are looking for.
- You can also add an event if you are conducting it somewhere.
Flickroom’s event search is powered by Yahoo Upcoming.
- Fullscreen View - Now you can view photos in fullscreen mode also. A new button has been added just after the button to change background color of a photo. If you want to run a slide show in full screen mode, you first need to start the slideshow and then set the photo viewer to full screen mode.
- Group Discussions List - Support has been added to show discussions list of Flickr groups. You can see the discussion titles and their authors. For seeing the content of the discussion, you need to click on the link which will show the same to you in your default browser.
- User Profile Fixed - Recently Flickr modified its way to show user profiles breaking the Flickroom’s profile page as well. It has now been fixed with the current update.
- UI Improvement and Bug Fixes - A lot of UI polish across the application has been done. The comments view especially has been improved a lot. You can now click on author’s name or photo and see his/her profile or photostream.
Hope you will continue to enjoy Flickroom!

Version 0.24 Beta Now Live!
by Flickroom Team on Oct.09, 2009, under Announcements, Contests
Flickroom Team is back with a new update to provide you an even better Flickr experience! This update is aimed at making Flickroom accessible to more and more users in an easy and slick manner. Read on to find out all the new goodies in Version 0.24 Beta [available for download via http://www.flickroom.org/]:
- Anonymous Access - Flickroom now provides you an option to use the application without requiring login (authenticating the application). You will be able to access all features of Flickroom except the following:
- Commenting and Uploading Tools
- Viewing Recent Activity
To access Flickroom anonymously, click on the “No, I want to use Flickroom without my login” button. If you are already logged in, you will need to logout first and then try out this mode.
- WebShare - So you have been enjoying the Flickroom experience to browse your Flickr photos in a whole new way. Well, how about sharing the same cool experience with your friends who are not using Flickroom or even Flickr! Following are two ways to showcase your photos the Flickroom way:
- Just pass on the following link to your friends and relatives:
- Otherwise, you can create a webshare widget by clicking on “Create a Webshare” button (available in the application’s status bar at the bottom). It will generate an HTML code snippet which would allow you to embed Flickroom view (as a Flash widget) in a webpage.
- Just pass on the following link to your friends and relatives:
- Slideshow - A basic slideshow feature is now available while viewing photos (in photostream, sets and group pools)
- Search Tool - There is now a search tool in the following modules - Sets, Groups and Contacts. Also, all of them are now sorted alphabetically by default.
- Image Caching Setting - There is now a setting in the Settings Manager which allows you to enable/disable caching of all the photos that Flickroom shows in different places. This setting is turned OFF by default. Switching it ON would result in extremely fast loading of images that you have seen in the past (as it would avoid any network activity). However, it would take up some extra space to store those images on your disk.
- UI Improvement and Bug Fixes - A lot of UI polish across the application and specifically for the chatroom has been done.
Hope you will continue to enjoy Flickroom!
Happy Flickrooming!
