by Flickroom Team on Mar.09, 2010, under Announcements, Flickroom in News
17th February - It was a big day for Flickroom team! Thanks to Cris Stoddard of Flickr team for featuring Flickroom on the Flickr official blog. You can find the post here: http://blog.flickr.net/en/2010/02/17/flickroom-chat-browse-upload-share/
Excerpt below:
Flickroom is an application that brings Flickr to your desktop, allowing you to browse and search photographs of yours, your contacts, and the Flickrverse. Your photos never looked better against a black background! Once you authenticate Flickroom to your account, you can not only manage your own content but you can also leave comments on great photos or make them your favorites.
But one of the neatest things about Flickroom is that you can chat, live, with other Flickr members while you’re viewing fantastic content!
There’s more, too. This application allows you to upload photos to your photostream. You can tag and set permissions on your photos as well as add them to sets and to groups.
Thank you for all your support and feedback dear Flickroomers! You rock!

Version 0.20 Beta Now Live!
by Flickroom Team on Sep.14, 2009, under Announcements, Updates
Flickroom Team is back with a new update to provide you an even better Flickr experience! This update addresses the most-wanted feature by our users - Map for geo-tagged photos. Also, you will now be able to use some viewing related keyboard shortcuts. Here is a lowdown of all the new stuff in Version 0.20 Beta [available for download via http://www.flickroom.org/]:

- Maps Support: Now you can see Geo-Tagged photos in photostream view on a map:
- Click on the ‘Map’ button available in the details bar of photostream
- The markers on the map indicate the number of photos for that location
- You can click on a tag to see the photos for that location

- Performance Improvement: You can now browser the photostream faster. Actually, till now, loading a photostream (or your photos or anybody else’s) would cause loading of the profile page also. Now Flickroom loads the profile page only when you actually want it.
- Keyboard Shortcuts: Viewing related keyboard shortcuts have been added:
- F5 - Show/Hide the top panel
- F6 - Show/Hide the filmstrip panel
- F7 - Show/Hide the left panel (photo details)
- F8 - Show/Hide the right panel
- Tab - Show/Hide the left and right panels
- Shift+Tab - Show/Hide all the panels
- Application Size: Minimum size of the application has been reduced to 900 x 600 (earlier, this was 1200 x 900). This would allow you to have a better experience on smaller screens (like netbooks and laptops).
- Photo Truncation Issue: Photos used to get truncated in some scenarios while resizing the center panel. This issue has been fixed now.
- UI Improvements and Bug Fixes: Lot of UI polish and fixes as reported by our beta users and found during our internal testing.
Hope you will continue to enjoy Flickroom!
Happy Flickrooming!
